Installing Microsoft Virtual Machine

 

STEP 1.) Establish a connection to the Internet, and start Internet Explorer. In the Address line, enter www.microsoft.com. Microsoft’s web site will open.

 

 

STEP 2.) Type vm in the Search box and click the GO button.

 

 

STEP 3.) Click Download the Microsoft Virtual Machine for Internet Explorer, read the instructions.

 

 

Microsoft Virtual Machine for Internet Explorer

The Microsoft® virtual machine (Microsoft VM) is designed to run on the Microsoft Windows® 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP operating systems or later. For a complete list of updates, view the list of fixes.

Instructions

  1. Installation prerequisite for all users  Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or later must be installed in order to use this version of the Microsoft VM.

    Installation prerequisite for Windows NT users  Windows NT4 Service Pack 3 or later must be installed prior to installing the Microsoft VM on Windows NT 4.0.

    Installation prerequisite for Windows 2000 users  Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 must be installed prior to installing this hotfix.
  2. If you have run any Java applets in the current browser session, exit and restart the browser. Return to this page to continue with the download procedure.
  3. In the list below, select the self-extracting file that you wish to download.
  4. When prompted, save the file to your hard drive.
  5. Double-click the downloaded file on your hard drive, and follow the instructions that appear.

WARNING: Please note that once you have installed the updated Microsoft VM it cannot be uninstalled.

STEP 4.) The Downloads screen will open, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

 

 

STEP 5.) Click Microsoft VM 3805 for Windows 95/98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows XP.

 

 

STEP 6.) Click the Open button on the File Download window.

 

 

STEP 7.) The msjava86.exe will download.

 

 

STEP 8.) Click Yes on the Install window.

 

 

STEP 9.) Click Yes on the Agreement window.

 

 

STEP 10.) The Microsoft VM will be installed.

 

 

STEP 10.) The download is complete.

 

 

STEP 11.) Your computer will be rebooted, click Yes.
